Optimize HVAC Designs

Cloud-Based HVAC Simulation and HVAC design software for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation applications.

Test, validate, and optimize your HVAC designs through CFD, heat transfer, and thermal analysis.

Staying competitive requires engineers to constantly innovate and find new ways to improve their designs while reducing the development costs and time to market. Computer-aided engineering (CAE)—also called engineering simulation—is becoming the industry standard for developing HVAC products better, faster, and cheaper. Learn how HVAC design software, and HVAC simulation, are the future.

Using cloud-based CAE with SimScale, cloud-based HVAC simulation is available and readily accessible from anywhere. HVAC engineers worldwide are performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD), conjugate heat transfer (CHT), and thermal analyses for testing and optimizing heating and cooling equipment, air conditioning, ventilation systems, and more. The SimScale platform enables you to test several design versions simultaneously.

HVAC Design Software Enabled Thermal Comfort

In HVAC system design, it is crucial to ensure optimal thermal comfort for people, whether it’s at home or in the office, a theater, a plane or a car. SimScale can help predict thermal comfort by testing the placement or number of air supply outlets and evaluating thermal comfort parameters as per ASHRAE 55 and ISO 7730, which are based on Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) and Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied (PPD). Additionally, temperature gradients, air distribution or velocity plots can be assessed. Learn more about PMV and PPD in this article.

HVAC Design Software Enables Energy Efficiency

Reduce energy consumption for HVAC systems in buildings, data centers, and equipment via optimized heat exchanger designs, ducting, fan or cooling unit placement. SimScale helps engineers visualize numerical simulation results in order to assess requirements for LEED or BREEAM certification. HVAC Simulation Enables Equipment Optimization

With HVAC simulation software, you can predict the performance of rotating machinery like industrial fans, vents, compressors, pumps or blowers. In addition, CAE helps to minimize pressure drops across ducts and other components. SimScale can also be used to optimize heating equipment. Learn more about how CFD can be used to predict the aerodynamics of centrifugal fans in this blog article.

Case Study: Glanzner Dynamics Improved an HVAC Duct Design through Cloud-Based Simulation from SimScale

The engineers at Glanzner Dynamics used CFD simulation with SimScale to design a new exhaust pipe for a ventilation system. Their client thought that with the standard design, the airflow might produce high levels of noise due to flow vortices and turbulent fluctuations. Therefore, a modified airflow pathway that reduced noise was needed. Glanzner Dynamics improved the design that would redirect the flow and slow it down as much as possible. The team was able to run multiple simulations simultaneously and improve the design in less than a working day.

“Working with SimScale gave us the possibility to inspect which of the architectural and technical solutions works the best way and give us certainty about our decisions. One other big factor is the speed in which SimScale can deliver results, through its great parallelization capacity. Without SimScale, we wouldn’t be able to deliver high-quality results in the required time period.”
