Academic Enterprise Plan

The SimScale Academic Enterprise Plan is dedicated to universities, schools, and research institutes to provide administrative tools to easily implement, manage and teach simulation at scale.

The Academic Enterprise Plan is for:

  • Educators who are interested in teaching a simulation course during the academic year
  • Students from institutes with an Academic Enterprise Plan that are enrolled in a semester course with a valid course ID
  • Research teams working on academic or industrial research projects

Free Academic Plan

The SimScale Free Academic Plan enables students and educators to get familiarized with the SimScale CAE platform and enhance their simulation knowledge. The Academic Plan includes a one-time three-month access to the SimScale with 2,000 cloud computing core hours and private projects. Note that the LBM solver is not included in the Academic Plan!

The Free Academic Enterprise Plan is for:

  • Students who are participating in a student design competition (i.e., Formula Student, Formula SAE, SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Design, etc) (1-year access +2,000 core hours)
  • Students who are writing a thesis or dissertation (3-month access + 2,000 core hours)
  • Educators who are evaluating SimScale for teaching (1-year access + 2,000 core hours)

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any special hardware?

No. SimScale is a web-based software runs on Macs, PCs, Linux, and Chromebooks. All you need is an internet connection.

How much does it cost?

SimScale is free for students, researchers, and educators. We usually recommend going with the Academic Enterprise Plan.

If I already have SimScale’s Free Community Plan, can I switch to the Academic Plan?

Yes, if you meet the criteria for the Academic Plan, you can apply. You will need to have a registered account with SimScale before applying.

What if I don’t qualify for the Academic Plan?

Don’t worry! With the SimScale Free Community Plan you have a access to all of the features of SimScale, you will just not be able to create private projects.

Is there a special plan for educators?

There is no dedicated plan, but educators can apply for the Academic Plan or reach out to us for the Academic Enterprise Plan for both themselves and for their students.

How can I get SimScale for my students?

Every user creates his or her own SimScale account. This is true whether the user is a student or teacher.

Can I use SimScale’s Academic Plan for university research?

Yes, but only if the research is of purely academic nature and not for government or commercial use.

Do I get the LBM solver for PWC with the Academic Plan?

No. The Academic Plan only comes with the standard CFD & FEM solvers. The Academic Enterprise Plan however can be booked with the LBM solver.
